What is a vape device?

A vape kit or mod is larger and more powerful than a pod system, and usually consists of a battery unit and a tank you fill yourself. It gives you control over wattage and airflow and produces dense vapour with a direct-to-lung (DTL) draw. These devices are aimed at users past the beginner stage who want a stronger, more customisable experience.

What to know before buying

• Wattage: More power means more vapour and faster consumption of both e-liquid and battery. Devices range from tens of watts into the hundreds.
• Battery: Some kits have a built-in battery; others need external cells bought separately.
• Coils: A consumable part that needs periodic replacement. Confirm replacement coils are available before you buy.
• Matching e-liquid: These devices run on low-strength freebase e-liquid, not high-strength salt nicotine.

Is a bigger device better than a pod?

Not necessarily — it depends on how you use it. A larger device gives stronger vapour and flavour with more control, but it is heavier and gets through e-liquid and battery faster. For something practical to carry day to day, a pod is the better fit.

When should I change the coil?

When the taste changes or turns burnt, or when vapour output drops noticeably. One to three weeks is typical, depending on use and flavour.

Why is my device leaking?

Most leaks come from overfilling, a coil that is not seated properly, or an e-liquid with a high PG ratio in a tank designed for high VG. Check the seal and leave a small air gap when filling.
